Poolwerx has reached an exciting milestone, opening its 150th store in Cannon Hill, Brisbane.

It’s a moment that reflects more than three decades of steady growth - built on trusted service, strong local businesses and a shared commitment to helping Australians enjoy their pools and outdoor spaces.

A milestone built on consistency

Since starting in 1992, Poolwerx has grown from a single mobile pool service into the world’s largest pool and spa maintenance franchise brand. That growth hasn’t happened overnight. It’s been shaped by long-term thinking, local expertise and a franchise model designed to support business owners for the long run.

As the network continues to evolve, Poolwerx is entering its next phase of growth, with double-digit expansion forecast over the next five years and double-digit total revenue growth targeted for FY26. Continued investment in technology, training and support will help ensure Poolwerx remains well-positioned to serve pool owners across Australia.

ANZ Chief Operating Officer Steve Halls says the milestone reflects both the strength of the brand and the opportunity ahead.

“For more than 30 years, Poolwerx has grown in a steady and sustainable way,” he said.

“The 150th store is a reflection of the confidence our franchise partners have in the brand and the resilience of the pool and spa industry.”

Celebrating the Cannon Hill store

The 150th store opening is led by Richard Kelly, franchise partner of the Poolwerx Mt Gravatt Group. Since joining Poolwerx in 2021, Richard has grown his business to include four retail stores - Balmoral, Carindale, Mt Gravatt and Rochedale - and a fleet of 20 service vans.

The Cannon Hill location forms part of Poolwerx’s largest acquisition to date through JC Pools.

“Every new store represents local people investing back into their community,” said Richard.

“We’re creating jobs, supporting local groups and helping families enjoy their pools at home. Being part of that growth is something we’re proud of.”

A network built on local expertise

Today, Poolwerx operates across Australia, New Zealand and the United States and is on track to reach close to 200 stores globally, supported by more than 750 service vans.

Founder John O’Brien says the 150-store milestone is a proud moment for the entire Poolwerx network.

“When I started Poolwerx, the goal was simple - to help Australians enjoy their pools safely,” he said. “What’s driven our growth since then is the dedication of our franchise partners, our focus on innovation, and the trust we’ve built with clients in local communities over time.”
