A rewarding scalable business model for the financially astute. Run your own accounting and advisory business.

Tax Assist Franchise Image

Now more than ever, you might be thinking about how to make your time and income work harder for your future, so that you’re in control.

As a TaxAssist Accountants franchisee, you can run a thriving accountancy and advisory business, enjoy a growing income from your efforts, and build a valuable asset to sell when the time is right. You will be able to deliver a suite of accounting, tax, financial and advisory services to local business owners, contractors, freelancers, and their families from your welcoming high street premises.

Successful franchisees come from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and experiences

Franchisees have worked both in practice and industry, banking, financial services, corporate and consulting, and some have been former successful business owners too. Having a financial background is essential – the focus is on advising and supporting clients while your tech and team do the number crunching.

The Market

With the loss of the traditional bank manager and other advisory organisations, there is a gap that TaxAssist franchises are filling, as people seek a local trusted advisor for their business and personal financial affairs. Demand is constant, with evolving tech automating many of the basic services. Franchisees and their teams harness this to deliver a suite of accounting, tax and advisory work, with a relationship-led approach.

Our technical team operate a helpdesk, as well as delivering regulatory updates for your team, and we provide specialist support and mentoring for you as the owner. You’ll always be able to access the advice you need, whenever you need it.

Your role – and our role

As a TaxAssist franchisee you are in business for yourself, but not by yourself. The goal is for you to work on the business rather than in it. That way, you’re growing an asset as well as your income.

You’ll spend your time growing your business attracting new clients and leading your team of loyal staff. We’ll guide you every step of the way to maximise both your income and asset value, all you need to do is follow the proven model – just like hundreds of people have before you.

Think of us as your back-office support team, with years of experience helping people start and grow their accounting firm.

TaxAssist franchisees benefit from our:

  • Market leading brand with a proven product and service mix
  • Lead generation service and digital visibility, including website and marketing campaigns
  • Refined technology, systems and processes for every element of your business
  • Guidance setting out your business plan, a proven route to building a saleable asset
  • Keeping you and your business right at the leading edge of changing trends and regulations

Franchisee Majority Ownership of us ‘the Franchisor’

Did you know? The TaxAssist Group has a unique ownership structure, c.60% owned by our franchisees, that ensures franchisee success is truly at the heart of our strategy. New franchisees own their own local business as part of the TaxAssist network, and if they choose, have the opportunity to become a shareholder in the franchisor.

There are four different ways you can become a TaxAssist Accountants franchisee.

1. Build your own accountancy practice with TaxAssist in a new territory

Most people choose to join the network as a new start-up. This gives you the time to become accustomed to self-employment and build your team and practice up gradually. This represents a faster and lower cost route to building your own practice, and a significant asset. Our franchise fee for a new start is $50,000 + GST.

2. Joining the TaxAssist Academy

The Academy offers professional accountants the opportunity to complete training, learn practice software and lodge returns for clients as they transition their career into public practice. There is no requirement from TaxAssist Accountants to resign from your current employment whilst on the Academy. Over 12 months your lodgements will be supervised and you will be offered continuous training if required.

Any time during the 12-month program you have the option to join TaxAssist Accountants as a franchisee. Any clients that you have introduced during the Academy are signed over to your business.

The training fee is deducted from the final franchise fee. The cost of joining the TaxAssist Academy is $10,500 + GST.

3. Convert your existing practice over to TaxAssist Accountants

If you are already an accounting or tax professional with your own practice, or client base, we can help you grow your existing business.

We are seeing more practices coming to us who are considering their future plans. A combination of Covid, digitalisation, technology changes, automation, compliance requirements, and client expectations is making life increasingly difficult for accounting and tax practices. Converting your practice to TaxAssist Accountants will not only enable you to stay on top of all these changes, but we’ll give you the technology, systems, marketing and business development support to diversify your services, develop a team and build a saleable asset.

Your overall business start-up costs will depend on your current situation and is subject to the territory location being available. For further details, see our next page on how you can take your practice to the next level with TaxAssist Accountants.

4. Join TaxAssist Accountants on a joint venture

Join us on a joint venture and become your own boss while part owning a TaxAssist Accountants practice (the exact shareholding arrangement will be dependent on a number of factors). As a joint venture partner, you will have the opportunity to leverage our brand name, reputation, and proven business model to establish and grow your own accounting business within our franchise system, with minimal start-up costs. We provide comprehensive training, ongoing support, and access to valuable resources to help you succeed in your business.

As a joint venture partner, you will have the freedom to run your own accounting practice while benefiting from the guidance and expertise of our experienced team. We have a strong track record of success in the accounting industry and are committed to helping our joint venture partners achieve their goals. If you are a motivated and entrepreneurial individual with a Tax Licence, we invite you to join us as a joint venture partner and take the first step towards building your own successful accounting practice.

Badi Ceren Case Study

Badi Ceren and Michael Harrison have been TaxAssist Accountants since May 2019 and have built up a substantial practice in Victoria. In 2022, keen to capitalise on the brand’s success in the area, they opened a new walk-in shop in Abbotsford, Melbourne.

What initially attracted you to becoming a TaxAssist franchisee?

The eye catching branding (blue and yellow and Dollar sign), the friendly people that have treated us well since the very beginning and the idea of support from an expert accountant towards my tax agent registration.

How has being a part of the franchise helped you to grow your practice?

It allows me to focus on what I know best (tax law) and not have to spend time on things like social media, marketing, web design, it’s all done for me by the franchisor.

What do you think differentiates TaxAssist from the competition?

TaxAssist is fresh and innovative and is based on a well-known and established franchise in the UK.

TaxAssist clients are both individuals and small businesses, which is different to other franchises that focus purely on individuals.

What is the most invaluable piece of advice you could give someone looking to buy a TaxAssist Accountants franchise?

Do your due diligence, ask a lot of questions and make sure you get them all answered. Also consult a commercial lawyer.

What has the training and support from TaxAssist Accountants been like?

It is being enhanced all of the time. Managing Director Mandy Sigaloff works hard to provide a support team who ensure all franchisees are being fully supported and taken care of.

It is great to see the network expanding, and to develop strong relationships with my fellow franchisees and to see how well each franchise is growing.

Has becoming a franchisee changed your life, if so how?

Yes, I never thought I would be able to run my own accounting business. With the support of my partner and TaxAssist, this is now a reality. I wish I had made the decision to become a Franchisee sooner!

Slowly I am getting the flexibility to do what I want, which is to focus on running the business rather than working in it, and to focus on what I love most, networking and meeting other business owners that need help with their tax compliance.

What are your plans for the future?

We would like to expand by acquiring another practice in the near future.
