About This Video
James Home Services CEO Ranna Simcox uses this video to walk through the burning questions prospective franchisees ask about the brand's subscription model — the kind of detail-level information most franchisors leave for closed-door sales meetings. Ranna starts with the basic premise. A subscription to your own business mirrors a Netflix subscription: pay a weekly fee, unlock unlimited access — in this case to the James Home Services network, brand, support and training. The financial mechanics are deliberately simple. $1,000 plus GST upfront on signing the franchise agreement, then a weekly subscription fee. With your own equipment, $100 plus GST a week. With James-supplied equipment in the interior cleaning model, $125 plus GST per week. Other service models scale with the equipment value. The crucial difference from an upfront purchase is the ability to start trading immediately. Under a traditional model, the franchisee must pay the full sum before commencing trading; under the subscription, trading begins with the first $1,000 paid, and the franchise is paid for as the business grows. That removes the lump-sum capital requirement that locks ordinary Australians out of franchise ownership. Ownership transfer is the other detail that surprises many prospects. Where the franchisee brings their own equipment, they own it from day one. Where James provides the equipment, James owns it for the first five years of subscription payments — at which point the equivalent of an upfront purchase has been paid, the subscription stops, and ownership of the equipment and the business transfers to the franchisee.
