About This Video
Andrew Bysouth owns two Gutter-Vac territories — Yarra Ranges (acquired April 2022) and Berwick (acquired February 2023). Before franchising he was a metal fabricator working in a factory building trains and buses, putting in 60 to 70 hours a week. He had no prior gutter-cleaning experience. What attracted Andrew to Gutter-Vac was direct family evidence. His uncle had been running a Gutter-Vac territory for three years from age 60 to 63, and the income figures Andrew saw — for a man approaching retirement age — were unbelievable. At half his uncle's age, Andrew calculated he could really run with the model. That conviction turned into action quickly. Andrew calls the training and support invaluable — from head office through to other franchisees. Facebook groups, weekly Zoom meetings, and the expectation that any franchisee or head office team member is one phone call away whenever a question comes up. He explicitly says he can feel that everyone has his best interests at heart, which sets the tone for how he engages with peers in turn. The lifestyle change has been the headline win. At purchase, Andrew's wife was pregnant with their second child and he was working 60-70 hours a week in the factory. Today he gets breakfast with his family every morning, has the flexibility to stay home when he needs to support them, and earns enough that his wife does not need to return to work.
