About This Video
Spray Pave operator Scotty walks prospective franchisees through the full picture of what it is like to start, train into and run a Spray Pave Australia concrete resurfacing business. Scotty came from a problem job, had a young family, and was looking with his wife for a home-based business with security, high income and flexible hours. The couple researched the usual franchises but found fee structures stacked against them at every turn. Spray Pave Australia owner Chris walked them through the concrete resurfacing industry plus the six trades the experienced team teaches at training. The economics: $37,500 purchase price plus equipment (try-before-you-buy at training), with head office offering an easy payment plan on the business itself. Scotty paid a $1,000 deposit, was approved, head office arranged his Adelaide airfare and motel, and he paid $8,500 on day one of training (declining the $2,500 discount to start receiving customer leads sooner). He chose the longest payment term — under $380 a month, less than one day's work. Soon after training he transitioned out of his old job into Spray Pave full time and was averaging over $3,000 clear for less than four days work, booked weeks ahead. Years later he still receives free customer leads from head office, runs three casual workers when busy, recently paid out the business early with a 10 percent discount, and frames his only regret as not starting earlier and not buying a bigger boat.
